The TRS3243E unit has a three-wire driver, a five-wire receiver and a dual charge pump with ± 15 kV electrostatic discharge circuit composition (HBM and IEC61000 - 4 - 2, air gap discharge) and ± 8 kV electrostatic discharge (IEC61000 - 4 -2, contact discharge) protection serial port connection pins. The device meets the requirements of TIA/EIA-232-F and provides an electrical interface between the asynchronous communication controller and the serial port connector. This drive and receiver are combined and matched for typical serial ports on IBM PCs/ATs or compatible ports. The charge pump and four small external capacitors allow for operation from a single 3-V to a 5.5 V supply. Additionally, the device includes an always-on in-phase output (ROUT2B) that allows applications to indicate the transmission of data when the device is powered on using a ring.
