Description/Ordering Information

The TRSF3223E consists of two line drivers, a two-wire receiver, and a dual charge pump with ± 15-kV ESD protection PIN-to-PIN (Serial Port Connection Pins, Including Ground) circuitry. This device meets the requirements of TIA/EIA-232-F and provides an electrical interface between the asynchronous communication controller and the serial port connector. The charge pump and four small external capacitors allow for operation from a single 3-V to a 5.5 V supply. Typical data with a TRSF3223E rate of up to 1000 kbits per second for operating signals

When flexible control options for power management, the serial port is invalid. When the automatic power saving function function, FORCEON is low and FORCEOFF is high. In this mode of operation, if the device does not give a valid RS-232 signal, the driver output is disabled. If the FORCEOFF setting is low and EN is high, the two drivers and receiver are turned off and the supply current is reduced to 1 milliamper. Disconnecting or closing the peripheral drive of the serial port causes automatic power loss to occur. FORCEON and FORCEOFF can be disabled when the automatic power off is high. With automatic power saving, the device automatically activates the active signal for any receiver input. An invalid output is used to notify the user if an RS-232 signal appears on any receiver input. Invalid High (valid data) if any receiver input voltage is greater than 2.7 V or less than -2.7 volts, or has been with -0.3 V or 0.3 V microseconds less than 30. Invalid is low (invalid data) if the receiver input voltage is between -0.3 V or 0.3 V more than 30.
