Overview:
The TSL2571 family of light-to-digital devices includes photodiode chips, integrated amplifiers, analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), batteries, clocks, buffers, comparators, a state machine, and an I2C interface. The device combines a photodiode (CH0), which is responsive to visible and infrared light, and a photodiode (CH1), which is primarily in response to infrared light. Two integrated ADCs simultaneously amplify the photodiode current to digital values, providing up to 16-bit resolution. After the conversion cycle is completed, the conversion result is transferred to a data register. Lux (ambient light level) derivation uses empirical formulas to approximate the response of the human eye to this digital output by a microprocessor.
