The UAF42 is a general-purpose active filter that can be widely configured for low-pass, high-pass, and band-pass filters. It uses a classical state variable with an inverting amplifier and two integrals to simulate the structure. The integrator includes a chip 1000pF capacitance trimmed to 0.5%. This architecture solves one of the most difficult problems of obtaining tolerance, low-loss capacitors in the design of active filters.

A DOS-compatible filter design program allows many filter types, such as Butterworth, Bessel, and Chebyshev, to be easily implemented. Fourth, an unsubmitted FET input op amp (along with three others) can be used to form additional stages, or special filters such as band stops and inverse Chebyshev.
