The UC1846/7 family of control ICs provides all the functions necessary to implement a fixed-frequency, current-mode control scheme while maintaining a minimum number of external components. The superior performance of this technology is improved line adjustment, enhanced load response characteristics, and simpler and easier control loop design. The inherent advantages of the topology include pulse-through pulse current limiting, automatic correction of symmetrical push-pull converters, and the ability to parallelize "power modules" while maintaining current equal sharing.

The protection circuitry includes programmable current limit with built-in undervoltage lockout and soft-start removal. A shutdown function is also available, can be started or has an automatic full power off reboot or latch shutdown.
