UC2874-2 High-efficiency synchronous step drop (buck) controller

The synchronous buck (buck) regulated UC3874 series offers highly efficient power conversion from 4.5 to 36 volts in the input voltage range. The UC3874 is specifically designed for battery-powered applications such as laptops, consumer products, communication systems, and aerospace applications, which require high performance and long battery life. The synchronous regulator replaces the N-channel MOSFET switch with low RDS(ON), significantly improving efficiency and allowing for clamped diodes in standard buck regulators. High-side N-channel MOSFET switches are driven out by low-side N-channel MOSFETs, which use a single-chip bootstrap circuit and only require an external phase capacitor, developing standardized gate drivers.
