The average current mode controller UC3849 accurately completes the home average current mode control on the secondary side. The secondary-side output voltage is regulated by sensing the output voltage and differentially sensing the AC switch current. The detected output voltage drives a voltage error amplifier. The AC switching current, monitored by a current sense resistor, drives a high bandwidth, low offset current sense amplifier. The output of the error amplifier's voltage and current sense amplifiers drives a high bandwidth difference, incorporating existing error amplifiers. The output sawtooth waveform in the current error amplifier is amplified and reversed by the inductor current through the resistor sensing. This inductor current drop slope compared to PWM ramp compensation is achieved, which gives an accurate and inherently fast transient response to load changes.
