The UCC 3806 PWM controller of the BiCMOS family offers a very familiar architecture for improved performance. In the same block diagram as the popular UC3846 series lead wire, the line has the stronger switching frequency capability of the UCC3806 while greatly reducing the bias current used in the device. For typical 50μA start-up and well-defined voltage threshold current turn-on, these devices can be used in portable devices where the range of applications from offline power is favored for batteries. Dual high currents, MOSFETs drive current outputs, and fast awareness further enhance the versatility of the device's cycling.
All the advantages of current mode control, including simple end-of-cycle feed-forward, parallelability with current, pulse current limiting through pulse and push-pull symmetry correction are easily achievable with the UCC3806 series.
