The UCC3884 is a high performance current mode PWM controller intendedfor single-ended switching power supply. The chip implements a frequency foldback scheme that reduces the oscillator frequency and drops the output voltage below the set value. This technique reduces the average output current into a low impedance load, which can occur in output short-circuit or overload conditions. Over-shorted current converters, more propagation delays at high frequencies, and switch off-time forced minimum duty cycle are common. Accurate volt-second clamping limits line or load transient conditions that might otherwise saturate the duty cycle of the transformer.
