UCC1889 the optimization of the controller for offline, low power, low voltage, regulated bias power supply. The unique circuit topology allows the device to be seen as two cascading flyback converters, each in a continuous operating mode, driven from a single external power switch. The significant advantage of this method is the ability to achieve a voltage conversion ratio of 400 V and a transformer-free internal loss as low as 12 V.

The control algorithm uses UCC1889 force the switching time to be an inversely proportional input voltage and the shutdown time switch to be an inversely proportional output voltage. This action is automatically fed back to the internal control loop and reference.
