The UCC38C4x family is a high performance current mode PWM controller. This is an enhanced version of BiCMOS with pin-to-pin compatibility with the industry standard UC384xA family and the UC384x family of PWM controllers. In addition, the 7 volt low-voltage version is offered for start-up as the UCC38C40 and UCC38C41.

Providing the necessary functions to control fixed-frequency, peak current mode power supplies, this series offers the following performance benefits. The device provides high operating frequencies up to one low start-up and operating current megahertz, resulting in improved efficiency, minimized start-up losses, and low operating power consumption. The device also features a very fast current detection output delay time of 35 nanoseconds and ±1 improved peak output rise and fall times with the ability to drive large currents directly external MOSFETs.
