The UCC3960 primary-side start-up controller is a unique solution that provides all primary-side functions for single-ended, isolated offline needs, switching power converters, and use secondary-side PWM control. It is a widely used secondary circuit and is particularly suitable for overload handling under complex conditions.

Secondary-side control assumes that the output voltage and current measurements are directly connected to the output ground referenced PWM at the stage of development and commands the power supply switch. This digital PWM command can be transmitted to the primary side of the power switch through a simple and low pulse isolation transformer cost. Secondary side control, which is easy to monitor and control the load of a system with a tightly coupled analog control loop.
