The LM2651 switching regulator provides high efficiency power conversion over a 100:1 load range (1.5A to 15mA). This feature makes the LM2651 ideal for battery-powered applications requiring long battery life in both run and standby modes.
Synchronous rectification achieves up to 97% efficiency. At light loads, the LM2651 enters a low power hysteresis or "sleep" mode to maintain high efficiency. In many applications, the efficiency is still 15 mA and the load exceeds 80%. A shutdown pin disables the LM2651 and reduces supply current to less than 10μA.
The LM2651 contains a patented current-sense current-mode control circuit. This feature eliminates the need for an external current-sense resistor current-mode DC-DC converter.
The LM2651 has an internal oscillator at a fixed frequency of 300 kHz. The high oscillation frequency allows the use of very small, low-profile components.
A programmable soft-start feature limits inrush current from input supply start-up and provides an easy way to sequence multiple supplies.
Other protection features include input undervoltage lockout, current limiting, and thermal shutdown.
