The ADuM3223/ADuM4223 are 4 A isolated half-bridge gate drivers that use Analog Devices' iCoupler® technology to provide independent and isolated high-end and low-end outputs. The ADuM3223 provides 3000 V rms isolation in a narrow-body 16-pin SOIC package, while the ADuM4223 provides 5000 V rms isolation in a wide-body 16-pin SOIC package. These isolated devices combine high-speed CMOS with single-chip transformer technology and offer superior performance characteristics over alternative devices such as pulse transformer and gate driver combinations.
Both the ADuM3223 and ADuM4223 isolators provide two independent isolation channels. These devices operate from a 3.0 V to 5.5 V supply voltage and are compatible with low-voltage systems. Compared to gate drivers using a high-voltage level-shifting method, the ADuM3223/ADuM4223 have the advantage of true current isolation between the inputs and outputs. The continuous operating voltage of each output is up to 565 VPEAK relative to the input, allowing low-end switching to negative voltage. The differential voltage between the high end and the low end can reach up to 800 VPEAK.
As a result, the ADuM3223/ADuM4223 can reliably control the switching characteristics of IGBT/MOSFET configurations over a wide range of positive or negative switching voltages.
