AD7228A has eight built-in 8-bit voltage-mode digital-to-analog converters, and an integrated output buffer amplifier and interface logic on a single chip. The full rated performance of the device is achieved without external adjustments.
Each of the eight digital-to-analog converters has a separate on-chip latch. Data is transmitted to the data latch via a common 8-bit TTL/CMOS (5V) compatible input port. When the WR becomes low, the address inputs A0, A1, and A2 determine which latch the data is loaded on. The control logic is compatible with most 8-bit microprocessor speeds.
With dual supplies and an input reference of +2 V to +10 V, the device is guaranteed to provide rated performance. The device can also operate from a single +15V supply, a +10V reference, or a single +5V supply, +1.23V reference. Each output buffer amplifier is capable of generating a +10 V voltage over a 2 k (Ohm) load.
AD7228A is manufactured using the all-ion implantation high-speed linear-compatible CMOS (LC2MOS) process, a process developed for the integration of high-speed digital logic circuits with precision analog circuits on the same chip.
