The AD5301/AD5311/AD5321 are single-channel 8/10/12-bit, buffered voltage output DACs that operate from a single 2.5V to 5.5V supply and consume 120μA at 3V. These devices have a built-in on-chip output amplifier that provides rail-to-rail output swing with a slew rate of 0.7 V/μs. The two-wire (I2C compatible) serial interface used is capable of operating at clock rates up to 400 kHz. Multiple devices can share the same bus.
The reference voltage of this DAC is obtained from the mains input, so it has the widest dynamic output range. Each of these devices has a built-in power-on reset circuit that ensures that the DAC output is powered up to 0V and maintains that level until a valid write operation is performed. It also features power savings, reducing the device's power consumption to 50nA at 3V in power-saving mode and providing a software-selectable output load.
In normal operating mode, these DACs feature low power consumption, making them ideal for portable battery-powered devices. Power consumption is 0.75 mW at 5V, 0.36mW at 3V, and down to 1μW in all power-saving modes.
