The AD558 DACPORT® is a complete voltage output 8-bitDigital-to-analog convertersIt integrates an output amplifier, a full microprocessor interface, and a precision reference on a single chip. No external components or adjustments are required to interface the 8-bit data bus to the analog system with full accuracy.

The performance and versatility of this DACPORT device reflect several recent developments in single-chip bipolar technologies. The complete microprocessor interface with the control logic utilizes integrated injection logic (I2 L) implementation, integrated injection logic is an extremely high-density, low-power logic structure that is compatible with linear bipolar manufacturing processes. The internal precision reference is a patented, low-voltage bandgap circuit that achieves full accuracy performance from a single +5 V to +15 V supply. Thin-film silicon-chromium resistors provide the stability required for monotonic operation over the full operating temperature range (all grades), and the latest laser wafer trimming techniques allow for factory absolute calibration within ±1 LSB, eliminating the need for user gain or offset voltage adjustment. The new circuit design enables voltages to reach ±1/2 LSB accuracy (full-scale steps) in 800 ns.

The AD558 is available in four performance grades. The AD558J and AD558K operate over the 0°C to +70°C temperature range, and the AD558S and AD558T operate from -55°C to +125°C. J and K grades are available in 16-pin plastic (N) or hermetic ceramic (D) DIPS packages or in 20-pin JEDEC standard PLCC packages. Both S and T grades are available in 16-pin hermetically sealed ceramic DIP packages.
