AD780It is an ultra-high precision bandgap
Voltage referenceA 2.5 V or 3.0 V output can be provided from a 4.0 V to 36 V input. Its low initial error, low temperature drift, low output noise, and ability to drive capacitors of any size make it ideal for enhancing the performance of high-resolution ADCs and DACs, as well as any general-purpose precision reference application. The unique low headroom design helps deliver a 3.0 V output from a 5.0 V ± 10% input, resulting in a 20% improvement in the dynamic range of the ADC and outperforming existing 2.5 V references.
The AD780 can be used to source or sink up to 10 mA and can operate in series or shunt mode to provide positive or negative output voltages without external components, making it suitable for almost all high performance reference applications. Unlike some competitive products, the AD780 does not have a "region of potential instability." When a 1 μF bypass capacitor is used on the supply side, the device is stable under all load conditions.
The AD780 provides a temperature output pin. This pin provides an output voltage that varies linearly with temperature, so the AD780 can be configured as a temperature sensor while providing a regulated 2.5 V or 3.0 V output.
The AD780 is a pin-compatible, performance upgrade for the LT1019(A)-2.5 and AD680. The latter is suitable for low-power applications.
The AD780 is available in two stages and is available in plastic DIP, SOIC, and CERDIP packages. The AD780AN, AD780AR, AD780BN, and AD780BR are specified for operation over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range and -55°C to +125°C for the AD780SQ and AD780SQ/883B.
