The DAC-08 series of 8-bit single-chip digital-to-analog converters feature extremely high-speed performance, low cost, and excellent application flexibility.
The advanced circuit design ensures a settling time of 85 ns, very low "glitch" energy, and low power consumption levels. Monotonic multiplication performance is achieved over a wide reference current range of 20 to 1. The matching accuracy between the reference current and the full-scale current is within 1 LSB, so full-scale adjustments are not required in most applications. With the high swing adjustable threshold logic input, all common logic series can be interfaced and high immunity is achieved.
Providing a high-voltage compliant complementary current output increases versatility and doubles the peak-to-peak output swing in differential operating mode. In many applications, the output can be converted directly to voltage without the need for an external op-amp.
All models in the DAC08 series guarantee full 8-bit monotonicity and achieve ±0.1% nonlinearity over the entire operating temperature range. The device is very stable over a ±4.5 V to ±18 V supply range, achieving a power consumption level of 33 mW ± a 5 V supply.
The compact, low-power nature makes the DAC08 an excellent choice for portable applications and military/aerospace applications; Models are available in accordance with MIL-STD-883 Class B military standards.
The DAC08's applications include 8-bit 1 μs A/D converters, servo motors and USB drives, waveform generators, audio encoders and attenuators, analog meter drivers, programmable power supplies, CRT display drivers, adjustment modems, and other applications that require low-cost, high-speed, and comprehensive input/output capabilities.
