DS1342U DS1341/DS1342 Low Current Real-Time Clock (RTC) is a timing device with very low standby current for longer lifetime on battery power The DS1341/DS1342 Low Current Real-Time Clock (RTC) is a timing device with very low standby current that can maintain a longer lifetime on battery power. The DS1341/DS1342 support high ESR crystals, expanding the device's crystal selection range. The DS1341 uses a 6pF crystal and the DS1342 uses a 12.5pF crystal. Both devices are accessible via an I²C serial interface. Other features include two timed alarms, two interrupt outputs, programmable square wave outputs, and a serial bus timeout mechanism. The clock/calendar section provides seconds, minutes, hours, day, day, month, and year information. For months with less than 31 days, the date can be automatically adjusted at the end of the month, including leap year corrections. The clock part works in 24-hour format or 12-hour format with AM/PM indication. The DS1341/DS1342 also include a sync input. When a reference clock (e.g., a 60Hz powerline or GPS 1PPS clock) is loaded on the CLKIN pin and the external clock enable input bit (ECLK) is set to 1, the DS1341/DS1342 RTC locks the clock frequency to the external clock, and the clock accuracy is determined by the external clock source. When the external clock fails, the clock switches to the crystal. The device is available in a lead-free (Pb)/RoHS-compliant 8-pin μSOP or TDFN package.
