description
The LTC ® 491 is a low-power differential bus/line transceiver designed for point-to-multipoint data transmission with extended common-mode range (-7V to 12V) standard RS485 applications. It also meets the requirements of RS-422.
The CMOS design provides a significant reduction in power consumption beyond its bipolar counterpart without sacrificing robustness against overload or ESD damage.
Driver and receiver three-state output drivers, the output maintains high impedance over the entire common mode range. Excessive power consumption caused by bus contention or fault prevents the thermal shutdown circuit from forcing the driver output into a high-impedance state.
The receiver has a fail-safe feature that guarantees a high output state when the input is suspended.
The AC and DC specifications guarantee a supply voltage range from 0°C to 70°C and 4.75V to 5.25V.
