UCC27531 (ACTIVE) 2.5A, 5A, 40VMAX VDD FET and IGBT single-gate drivers
The UCC27531 is a single, high-speed, gate driver that efficiently drives MOSFETs and IGBT power switches with up to 2.5A source current and 5A sink current (asymmetrical drive). Absorption in a strong asymmetric drive increases resistance to parasitic Miller switching effects. The UCC27531 device also features a separate output configuration in which gate drive current is pulled from the OUTH pin and poured in from the OUTL pin. This unique pin arrangement allows the user to sample separate on-off and turn-off resistors on the OUTH and OUTL pins, respectively, and easily controls the slew rate of the switch.
This driver features rail-to-rail drive capability and a very small propagation delay of 17ns typical.
The input threshold for the UCC27531DBV is based on TTL and COMS-compatible low-voltage logic that is fixed and independent of VDD supply voltage. A typical 1V hysteresis provides excellent immunity.
This driver has an EN pin that supports fixed TTL-compatible thresholds. EN is internally pulled up; Pulling EN down to disable the driver low, while leaving it on provides normal operation. The EN pin can be used as an additional input and performs the same as the IN pin.
Keeping the driver's input pin open will keep the output low. The logic operation of the driver is shown in the application diagram, the timing diagram, and the input and output logic truth tables.
Internal circuitry on the VDD pin provides an undervoltage lockout function that keeps the output low until the VDD supply voltage is within operating range.
The UCC27531 driver is available in a 6-pin standard SOT-23 (DBV) package. The device has a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 140°C.
