A4970Electric motor driverIt can drive two windings of a bipolar stepper motor, or control two DC motors in both directions. Both bridges maintain 45 volts and include internal pulse-width modulation (PWM) control of 750 mA output current.
For PWM current control, the maximum output current depends on the user-selected reference voltage and sense resistor. The two logic-level inputs can limit the selectable output current to 0%, 33%, 67%, or 100% of the maximum level. The "phase" input of each bridge determines the direction of the load current.
Intrinsic diodes in the MOSFET output structure protect against inductor transients. An internally generated delay avoids cross-currents when switching current directions. No special power-on sequencing is required. Thermal protection circuitry disables the output if the die temperature exceeds safe operating limits.
The device package is a 24-pin surface-mount wide-body SOIC with two pairs of bat-like pins (LB). The interwoven structure of the pins allows the device to achieve maximum heat dissipation in the smallest space. The package is lead (Pb) free and features 100% matte tin leadframe plating.
