The AD7524 is a low cost, 8-bit monolithic CMOS DAC designed to interface directly with most microprocessors.
The AD7524 is basically an 8-bit DAC with input latches with a load cycle similar to the "write" cycle of a random access memory. It is manufactured using an advanced CMOS thin-film process that provides 1/8 LSB accuracy and typically consumes less than 10 mW.
The newly improved design eliminates the need for Schottky diode protection and guarantees TTL compatibility with a +5 supply. The loading speed has also been improved and it is compatible with most microprocessors.
The AD7524 operates from +5V to +15V supplies and can interface directly with most microprocessor buses or output ports.
The excellent multiplication characteristics (two or four quadrants) of the AD7524 make it ideal for many microprocessor-controlled gain setting and signal control applications.
