ADM7170is a CMOS,Low dropout (LDO) linear regulatorIt operates from a 2.3 V to 6.5 V supply with a maximum output current of 500 mA. This high output current LDO is suitable for regulating high-performance analog and mixed-signal circuits from 6 V to 1.2 V. The device uses an advanced, proprietary architecture that provides high power supply rejection, low noise, and excellent line and load transient response with only a small 4.7 μF ceramic output capacitor. The load transient response is typically 1.5 μs (1 mA to 500 mA load step).
The ADM7170 is available in 17 fixed output voltage options. These options are available in the following voltages: 1.3 V, 1.8 V, 2.5 V, 3.0 V, 3.3 V, 4.2 V, and 5.0 V. On special request, the following additional voltage options are available: 1.5 V, 1.85 V, 2.0 V, 2.2 V, 2.7 V, 2.75 V, 2.8 V, 2.85 V, 3.8 V, and 4.6 V. An adjustable version is also available to regulate the output voltage from 1.2 V to V with an external feedback dividerIN − VDO。
The start-up time can be adjusted via the soft-start pin to control the inrush current. With a 1 nF soft-start capacitor, the typical start-up time is approximately 1.0 ms.
The ADM7170 regulator outputs a noise voltage of 5 μV rms and is independent of the output voltage. Available in 8-lead, 3 mm × 3 mm LFCSP packages, the ADM7170 is not only very compact, but also has excellent thermal performance for low-profile, small form factor applications requiring up to 500 mA output current.
