AD680It is a bandgap referenceVoltage sourceA 2.5 V output can be provided from a 4.5 V to 36 V input. Its architecture allows it to operate with very low quiescent current while achieving excellent dc characteristics and noise performance. By adjusting the highly stable thin film resistance, excellent initial accuracy and temperature coefficient are obtained, resulting in low errors over the entire temperature range. The precision DC characteristics of the device make it ideal for use as a reference for digital-to-analog converters (DACs) that require an external precision reference. It is also ideal for analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and often outperforms standard on-chip references.
The quiescent current of the AD680 is lower than many two-lead references, making it recommended for low power applications such as handheld battery-powered devices.
The AD680 is available in an 8-lead package with a temperature output pin. The output voltage provided by this pin varies linearly with temperature, so the AD680 can be configured as a temperature sensor while providing a regulated 2.5 V output.
The AD680 is available in five stages. The AD680AN is specified for operation over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range and 0°C to +70°C for the AD680JN. Both the AD680AN and AD680JN are available in 8-lead plastic DIP packages. The AD680AR is specified for operation over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range and the AD680JR from 0°C to +70°C. Both models are available in 8-pin small form factor integrated (SOIC) packages. The AD680JT is specified for operation from 0°C to +70°C and is available in a 3-lead TO-92 package.
