AD7981It is a 16-bit, successive approximation typeAnalog-to-digital converters(ADC), designed for high operating temperatures. The AD7981 samples up to 600 kSPS while consuming low power and operates from a single supply VDD. It is one of the fastest, highest accuracy, high temperature resistant, successive approximation (SAR) ADCs in a small package and offers a versatile serial port interface (SPI).
On the rising edge of the CNV, the AD7981 samples the analog input voltage difference between IN+ and IN- from 0V to REF. The reference voltage (REF) is provided externally and can be independent of the supply voltage (VDD). Device power consumption and throughput rate vary linearly.
The SPI-compatible serial interface also enables several ADCs to be daisy-chained onto a 3-wire bus using the SDI input, with optional busyness indications. It is compatible with 1.8V, 2.5V, 3V, and 5V logic when using a separate supply VIO.
For space-constrained applications, the AD7981 is available in a small 10-lead package (MSOP) and is specified over the −55°C to +175°C temperature range. This package is designed for stability at extreme temperatures, including single-metal wire bonds, and can operate for 1000 hours at the maximum rated temperature.
The AD7981 is part of Analog Devices' expanding family of high temperature qualifications, and for all of ADI's high temperature families and related qualification data, visit www.analog.com/hightemp.
