The ADP2108 is a high efficiency, low quiescent currentStep-down DC-DC converter, in an ultra-small 5-ball WLCSP package. The overall solution requires only three extremely small external components. It uses a patented high-speed current-mode, frequency-stabilized pulse-width modulation (PWM) control mechanism to provide excellent stability and transient response. To ensure the highest battery life in portable applications, the ADP2108 provides a power-saving mode to reduce the switching frequency at light loads.
The ADP2108 operates from an input voltage of 2.3V to 5.5V and can be used with single-cell lithium or lithium polymer batteries, composite alkaline or nickel-metal hydride batteries, PCMCIA, USB, and other standard power supplies. The maximum load current is 600mA within these input voltage ranges.
The ADP2108 is available in fixed output voltages of 3.3V, 3.0V, 2.5, 2.3V, 1.8V, 1.5, 1.3V, 1.2V, 1.1V, and 1.0V. To minimize external component count and high efficiency, all versions include a built-in power switch and synchronous rectifier. The ADP2108 includes a soft-start feature and internal compensation. During logic control shutdown, the input is disconnected from the output and the input source leakage current is less than 0.1A. Other key features include undervoltage lockout to prevent deep battery discharge and soft-start to prevent input current overshoot at startup. The ADP2108 is available in a 5-ball WLCSP package.
