ADP2503/ADP2504 are high efficiency, low quiescent current boosts/
Step-down DC-DC converter, can operate with an input voltage above, below, or equal to the regulated output voltage. Built-in power switches and synchronous rectifiers minimize external component count and maximize efficiency. At high load currents, the ADP2503/ADP2504 use a current mode, fixed frequency pulse-width modulation (PWM) control scheme for excellent stability and transient response. To ensure maximum battery life in portable applications, the ADP2503/ADP2504 have a selectable power-saving pulse-trip mode that reduces the switching frequency at light loads, saving power. For wireless and other low-noise applications where interference can occur with variable frequency pulse trip mode, the logic control input signal can force fixed-frequency pulse-width modulation (PWM) operation under various load conditions.
The ADP2503/ADP2504 have an input voltage range of 2.3 V~5.5 V, which makes them ideal for single-cell Li+/Li-polymer batteries as well as multi-cell alkaline/nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries where their output voltages are within the battery voltage range. The ADP2503/ADP2504 have a fixed output voltage range of 2.8 V~5 V. Internal compensation minimizes external component count.
During logic-controlled shutdown, the input and output are separated and the input source current is less than 1μA. Other key features include: undervoltage lockout, which prevents deep battery discharge; Soft start prevents input current overshoot at startup.
