The ADuM131x is based on Analog Devices
iTriple digital isolator for Coupler® technology. These isolation devices combine high-speed CMOS with monolithic air-core transformer technology to provide superior performance characteristics over alternative devices such as optocouplers.
iCoupler devices do not use LEDs and photodiodes, so there are no design difficulties typically associated with optocouplers. simpleiThe Coupler digital interface and stable performance characteristics eliminate the problems typically associated with optocouplers such as uncertain current transfer ratios, maximum operating temperature, and lifetime effects. theseiCoupler products do not require external drivers and other discrete components. In addition, in the case of comparable signal data rates,iCoupler devices consume only 1/10 to 1/6 of the power of optocouplers.iCoupler also offers higher channel density and more channel direction options.
The ADuM131x isolators provide three independent isolation channels that support multiple channel configurations and data rates up to 10 Mbps (refer to the Ordering Guide). All models operate from supply voltages from 2.7 V to 5.5 V, are compatible with low-voltage systems, and are capable of voltage conversion across the isolation barrier. All products allow the user to predetermine the absence of V using a simple control pinDD1The default output state when power is entered. Unlike other optocouplers, the ADuM131x isolator has a patented refresh feature that ensures dc correctness in the absence of input logic transitions and power-up/shutdown conditions.
