The LTC ® 1421/LTC1421-2.5 hot-swap ™ controllers enable the board to be safely inserted and removed from the live backplane. Using an external N-channel transistor, the supply voltage of the board can be held at a programmable rate. Two high-side switch drivers control the gates of the N-channel with supply voltages ranging from 3V to 12V.
A programmable electronic circuit breaker protects the Agianst shorts. A warning signal indicates that a circuit breaker has tripped, a power supply has failed, or a switch drive has been turned off. The reset output can be used to generate a power cycle or to reset the system in the event of a fault. These two connection inputs can be used to interleave connector pins to indicate board insertion or deletion. A power-on reset input that can be used to cycle power to a board or clear a circuit breaker.
The trigger point for the LTC1421 and 2.5V ground sense comparison is set at 0.1V LTC1421 - 2.5.
