TPCA pointed out that although the shutdown of Foxconn's Zhengzhou factory in the fourth quarter of 2022 caused a certain decline in PCB sales in Taiwan, Taiwanese PCB manufacturing revenue still exceeded NT$200 billion in a single quarter for six consecutive quarters. Benefiting from the decline in exchange rates and the strong pull of the results of the first three quarters, Taiwanese PCB manufacturing revenue in 2022 still reached NT$903.3 billion (approximately US$30.286 billion), an increase of 10.5% over NT$817.8 billion in the previous year (USD-denominated growth rate of 3.3%).

Even under the impact of the global epidemic and high inflation, as well as the decline in terminal demand, Taiwanese PCB manufacturing revenue reached a new high of NT$903.3 billion in 2022, and is expected to reach NT$917.8 billion in 2023, with a growth rate of 1.6%.

Recently, the TPCA Taiwan Circuit Board Association released data showing that Taiwanese PCB manufacturing revenue reached a new high in 2022, reaching NT$903.3 billion. With the economic improvement in the second half of this year and the market demand becoming stronger, Taiwanese PCB manufacturing revenue is expected to reach NT$917.8 billion in 2023, with a growth rate of 1.6%, the agency said.

From the perspective of product structure, flexible boards, traditional multilayer boards, carrier boards, HDI, rigid-flex boards and others, accounted for 26.7%, 26.3%, 26.3%, 19.0%, 1.4%, 7.5% respectively. Driven by the sales of Apple's iPhone and Macbook products, the penetration rate of flexible boards has further increased, and shipments have exceeded multilayer boards for the first time.

From the perspective of application market, communications, computers, semiconductors, consumer electronics and automobiles are the top five application fields, accounting for 32.3%, 22.8%, 9.1%, 10.7% and 10.5% respectively.

From the perspective of production distribution, Taiwanese PCB manufacturing production areas are mainly concentrated in Chinese mainland and Taiwan, China, with output accounting for 60.6% and 37.1% in the two places, and only 2.3% in other regions. TPCA pointed out that with the growth of carrier board PCB demand, the proportion of Taiwan's local PCB is increasing. At present, the overseas production areas of Taiwanese carrier board PCBs are mainly concentrated in Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam in Southeast Asia. However, with the fluctuation of the global political situation and economic situation in the past two years, Taiwan's PCB industry has begun to flow overseas in large quantities.
