According to reports, Samsung Electronics decided to transfer the production of Micro LED TV from the Vietnamese factory to the South Korean factory, and plans to produce an 89-inch Micro LED TV based on the LTPS TFT backplane in the third quarter of this year, which is expected to be released before the end of this year, and the product price is about 77,000 US dollars (about 510,000 yuan).
It is understood that in addition to 89-inch products, Samsung will also produce 101 and 114-inch Micro LED TVs later this year, and all use LTPS TFT backplanes.
The LTPS TFT backplane used by Samsung will be produced by AUO, and the 34x85 micron Micro LED chip will be provided by Chiptron, but in the future, the LTPS TFT panel may be provided by Samsung Display. It is reported that Samsung Display has also developed LTPS TFT backplane products for Samsung Electronics' Micro LED TV.
Previously, South Korean media revealed that after the official launch of the 110-inch Micro LED TV, Samsung is stepping up the production and sales plan of 100-inch and 89-inch products.
The 89-inch Micro LED TV was originally planned to be launched in the first half of this year, but due to the explosive growth in demand for commercial micro LED displays and the shutdown of Samsung's Vietnam factory due to the new crown epidemic, Micro LED production capacity was insufficient, so production was delayed.
However, with the completion of the expansion of the Micro LED production line in the Mexican factory last year and the expansion of Micro LED production capacity to the Slovak factory in early May this year for the production of Micro LED commercial displays, the production capacity of the Vietnam factory was freed up for the production of 89-inch Micro LED TVs.
It is also worth noting that on June 18, Samsung's 110-inch The Wall Micro LED TV went on sale in China, priced at nearly 1.05 million yuan, and the second day after the sale, the Jingdong platform showed that the first batch of products had been sold out.
