New applications of linear-output Hall-effect sensors, such as displacement and angular position, require high accuracy and redundant outputs. The Allegro A1359 programmable linear Hall-effect sensor IC is designed for both of these requirements. The features associated with this linear device are ideal for automotive and industrial applications that require high accuracy, and this temperature-stable device can operate over a wider temperature range: –40°C to 150°C.

The accuracy of the device is improved through programmability at the Allegro factory, which optimizes device sensitivity, quiescent voltage output (QVO: output without magnetic field), and static duty cycle (QD) for a given application or circuit. By programming the temperature coefficient in Allegro end-of-line testing for high sensitivity and QVO/QD, the A1359 also achieves optimal performance over the entire operating temperature range. The proportional Hall-effect sensor IC provides an analog voltage proportional to the applied magnetic field and a PWM signal with a duty cycle.

Each BiCMOS monolithic circuit integrates Hall element temperature supplement circuitry that reduces Hall element intrinsic sensitivity drift, a small-signal high-gain amplifier, a clamping low-impedance output stage, and proprietary dynamic offset cancellation technology.

The A1359 is available in an 8-contact surface-mount TSSOP (suffix LE) in a lead-free (Pb) package with a 100% matte tin plated pin frame.
