These single, low-noise step-down conversion regulators (LNBRs) consist of a monolithic linear boost converter and a low-dropout linear regulator for use in analog and digital satellite receivers. Designed specifically to provide power and interface signals to LNB downconverters over coaxial cable in satellite TV receiver systems.

The A8300 and A8300-1 have integrated boost switches and compensation circuitry, requiring only a small number of external components. The device chooses a switching frequency of 563 kHz, which minimizes the size of the passive filter element.

The IC provides a 22-kHz internal tone for DiSEqC™ communication that is gated using a control pin or accepts an external tone of 22-kHz through this pin. In addition, the devices incorporate tone detection capabilities to support full bidirectional DiSEqC™ communication, as well as an integrated gate driver for filter bypass FETs.

The I2C-compatible™ interface combines control and diagnostics to meet the requirements of complex systems and report system faults. In addition, the "sleep pin" minimizes power consumption and allows the device to be quickly shut down when necessary without invoking 2C™ control.

The device also offers a power failure (EPF) warning function to help calibrate the status of the 12 volt rail and initiate the shutdown procedure.

Both the A8300 and A8300-1 are available in a 4 mm × 4 mm lead-free QFN package (suffix ES) with 100% matte tin plating.
