ADAU1977WBCPZ Quad-channel ADC with integrated diagnostics
ADAU1977 integrates four high-performance analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) with 10 V rms performance on the direct-coupled input. The ADC uses a multi-bit sigma-delta architecture and its continuous-time front-end enables low EMI performance. It can be directly connected to an electret microphone (ECM) and provides the required bias for powering the microphone. Built-in diagnostic circuitry detects faults on the input line, including comprehensive diagnostics for microphone input faults. The following faults can be reported: battery short, microphone bias short, ground short, short between positive and negative input pins, and open input pins. In addition, each diagnostic fault can be represented by an IRQ flag to facilitate system design. It also has a built-in I2C/SPI control port. ADAU1977 is powered from a single 3.3 V supply only. Microphone bias voltages can be generated inside the device. The microphone bias can be programmed in several steps ranging from 5 V to 9 V. The low-power architecture reduces the power consumption of the device. The on-chip PLL can obtain the master clock from an external clock input or from a frame clock (sample rate clock). When using frame clocks, there is no need to use a separate high-frequency master clock in the system due to the presence of PLLs. ADAU1977 is available in a 40-pin LFCSP package.
