The ADuM2210/ADuM22111 are dual digital isolators using Analog Devices' iCoupler® technology. These isolation devices combine high-speed CMOS with monolithic air-core transformer technology to provide superior performance characteristics over alternative devices such as optocouplers.
iCoupler devices do not require LEDs and photodiodes, so there are no design difficulties typically associated with optocouplers.
Simple iCoupler digital interface and stable performance characteristics that can be eliminatedOptocouplerTypically have problems such as uncertain current transfer ratios, nonlinear transfer functions, and temperature and lifetime effects. These iCoupler products do not require external drivers and other discrete components. In addition, iCoupler devices consume only 1/10 to 1/6 of the power consumption of optocouplers at comparable signal data rates.
ADuM2210/ADuM2211IsolatorsTwo independent isolated channels are available, supporting multiple channel configurations and data rates. They can operate from supply voltages from 3.0 V to 5.5 V, are compatible with low voltage systems, and are capable of voltage conversion across the isolation barrier. Both the ADuM2210W and ADuM2211W are automotive application grades.
Similar to the ADuM3200/ADuM3201 Isolators, the ADuM2210/ADuM2211 isolators include various circuit and layout improvements that are significantly enhanced by system-level IEC 61000-4-x tests (ESD, Burst, and Inbound). For ADuM3200/ADuM3201 or ADuM2210/ADuM2211 products, the accuracy of these tests depends primarily on the design and layout of the user's board or module.
