The DAC8408 is a monolithic quad 8-bit multiplyDigital-to-analog CMOS converter。 Each DAC has its own reference input, feedback resistor, and on-chip data latch with read/write capability. The readback function acts as memory for systems that require a self-test.
A common 8-bit input TTL/CMOS-compatible input port loads data into any of the four DAC data latches. The control lines DS1, DS2, and A/B determine which DAC accepts the data. The data loading structure is similar to the write cycle of RAM. The control line R/W allows data to be read back to the same data bus. The DAC8408 is bus compatible with most 8-bit microprocessors, including the 6800, 8080, 8085, and Z80. The DAC8408 operates from a single +5 V supply and consumes less than 20 mW. The DAC8408 is based on an advanced oxide-isolated, silicon-gate CMOS process and is made with PMI's highly stable thin-film resistors. PMI's improved anti-latch-up design eliminates the need for external protection Schottky diodes.
