The DAC8512 is a complete serial input, 12-bit voltage output
Digital-to-analog convertersOperates from a single +5 V supply, includes a DAC, input shift registers and latches, a voltage reference, and a rail-to-rail output amplifier. These monolithic DACs are manufactured on a CBCMOS process for systems with only +5 V supplies, and are low-cost and easy to use.
The DAC8512 is encoded as standard binary, with the MSB loaded first. The output op amp can swing to either rail, set from 0 V to +4.095 V, and has a resolution of 1 mV per bit. It is capable of sourcing and sourcing 5 mA. The on-chip reference is laser-trimmed to provide a precision full-scale output voltage of 4.095 V.
The high-speed, 3-wire serial interface is DSP-compatible, providing data input (SDI), clock (CLK), and load strobe (LDThree pins. There is also a chip select pin for connecting multiple DACs.
At power-on or at the request of the user,CLRThe input sets the output to zero scale.
The DAC8512 is specified over the industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and is available in both plastic DIP and SO-8 surface-mount packages.
