The LM2670 series of regulators are monolithic integrated circuits that are buck (buck) switching regulators capable of driving loads up to 3A with excellent line and load regulation characteristics. High efficiency (> 90%) is obtained by using a low on-resistance DMOS power switch. The series includes fixed output voltage and adjustable output versions of 3.3V, 5V and 12V.
THE SIMPLE SWITCHER CONCEPT PROVIDES A COMPLETE DESIGN USING A MINIMUM NUMBER OF EXTERNAL COMPONENTS. The clock switching frequency can be provided by an internal fixed frequency oscillator (260KHz) or an externally supplied clock in the range of 280KHz to 400kHz, allowing the use of smaller components. A standard inductor used in the LM2670 series is available from several manufacturers, greatly simplifying the design process. An external synchronous clock provides direct and precise control of output ripple frequencies for consistent filtering or spectral positioning.
The LM2670 series also features built-in thermal shutdown, current limiting, an ON/OFF control input, and can adjust the standby state with a low quiescent current power of 50μA up and down. The output voltage is guaranteed to a tolerance of ± 2%.
