The LM2738 regulator is a monolithic, high-frequency, PWM step-down DC/DC converter in an 8-pin LLP or 8-pin eMSOP package. It provides all local DC/DC conversions with fast transient response and precise regulation of the smallest possible PCB area.
With minimal external components, the LM2738 is easy to use. The internal 250mΩNMOS drive capability of the 1.5A load switch results in optimal power density using state-of-the-art 0.5 micron BiCMOS technology. The switching frequency is internally programmed (LM2738Y) to 550kHz or 1.6MHz (LM2738X), allowing the use of very small surface mount inductors and capacitors. Even at very high operating frequencies, efficiencies of up to 90% are easily achievable. Includes external enable with ultra-low standby current of 400nA. The LM2738 uses current mode control and internal compensation to provide high-performance regulation of a wide range of operating conditions. Other features include internal soft-start circuitry to reduce inrush current, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, thermal shutdown, and output overvoltage protection.
