description
™The LT 1073 is a versatile micropower DC/DC converter. The device requires only three external components to provide a fixed 5V or 12V output. The very low minimum supply voltage of 1V allows the LT1073 to be used by a single cell in applications. The on-chip auxiliary gain block can function as a low battery voltage detector or as a linear regulator.
The average leakage current of the LT1073-5 in use is only 135μA offload, and its long battery life is ideal for applications. The circuit shown can provide a 5V input at 40 mA, 1.25V from a 1V input of 10mA, and 5V low.
The device can be easily configured as a boost or buck converter, although for most buck applications or input sources greater than 3V, the LT1173 is recommended. The switch current limit is user-adjustable by adding an external resistor. The unique reverse battery protection circuit limits the reverse supply to safe, lossless levels of reverse current voltages up to 1.6V.
