The environment is harsh, and the living space of LTE baseband chip manufacturers is squeezed

Chip manufacturers including ST-Ericsson, Renesas Mobile, NVidia, Marvell and others began developing LTE as early as a year agoBaseband chip, but so far few companies have shown actual results; They all claim to have modem chips, but despite that, no one got the design and didn't see anything at this year's International Consumer Electronics Show (CES)... How so?

 

We can certainly blame this on what is almost non-existent at the momentLTEMarket, in addition to the United States (editor's note: there should be Japan and South Korea), LTE network deployment in other regions is slow, if manufacturers want to rush modem chip shipments, should not lock in the LTE market; But in the 3G market, Qualcomm, MediaTek, Spreadtrum, Broadcom, Intel... and other big factories.

 

Or you can blame Samsung and Apple; The two companies swept the high-end smartphone market, but Samsung has its own designed LTE baseband chip, Apple uses Qualcomm chips, and other chip suppliers have little room to live. But the real reason is actually the essence of baseband chips.
