The PN533 is a highly integrated onetransceiverModule for contactless communication at 13.56 MHz based on the 80C51 microcontroller core. Supports 6 different working modes:
- ISO/IEC 14443A/MIFARE read/write mode
- FeliCa read/write mode
- ISO/IEC 14443B read/write mode
- ISO/IEC 14443A/MIFARE card MIFARE 1 KB or MIFARE 4 KB simulation mode
- FeliCa card emulation mode
- ISO/IEC 18092, ECMA 340 peer-to-peer mode
The PN533 uses a demodulator and decoder to process signals from ISO/IEC 14443A/MIFARE compliant cards and transmit transponders. The PN533 performs full ISO/IEC 14443A frames and error detection (parity and CRC).
The PN533 supports MIFARE 1 KB or MIFARE 4 KB emulation products. The PN533 supports MIFARE higher speed contactless communication with bidirectional transmission rates of up to 424 kbit/s.
The PN533 demodulates and decodes FeliCa encoded signals. The PN532 can perform FeliCa frame and error detection. The PN533 supports FeliCa higher speed contactless communication with bidirectional transmission rates of up to 424 kbit/s.
PN533 supports Layers 2 and 3 of ISO/IEC 14443 B read/write communication schemes, except for collision prevention. It must be adopted in the firmware as well as in the upper layer.
In card emulation mode, the PN533 is capable of answering read/write commands according to the FeliCa or ISO/IEC 14443A/MIFARE card interface scheme. The PN533 generates a load-modulated signal from its transmitter or from the LOADMOD pin that drives an external active circuitry. Full security card functionality is only possible when combined with cryptographic ICs using an NFC-WI/S²C interface.
Compliant with ECMA 340 and ISO/IEC 18092 NFCIP-1 passive and active communication modes, the PN533 can communicate with another NFCIP-1 compliant device at a maximum transmission rate of 424 kbit/s. The PN533 is capable of full NFCIP-1 frame and error detection.
PN533transceiverExternal antennas can be connected for read/write or card/PICC mode without any additional active components.
The PN533 supports the following host interfaces:
- USB 2.0 full-speed interface (bus-powered or non-bus-powered)
- High-Speed UART (HSU)
The PN533 also has a main I²C interface to drive I²C peripherals (i.e., memory).
In addition, a power switch is included to supply power to the encryption IC.
