The TPS7A41 is an ultra-high voltage resistant linear regulator with the advantage of being available in a thermally enhanced package (MSOP-8) and withstanding continuous DC or transient input voltages up to 50V.
The TPS7A41 is stable (over temperature and tolerance) with any output capacitance greater than 4.7μF and any input capacitance greater than 1μF. As a result, the board-level space required for the implementation of this device will be very small due to its tiny package (MSOP-8) and potentially small output capacitors. In addition, the TPS7A41 has an enable pin (EN) compatible with standard CMOS logic to implement a low-current shutdown mode.
The TPS7A41 features an internal thermal shutdown and current limit to protect the system during fault conditions. The MSOP-8 package has a TJ = –40°C to +125°C operating temperature range.
In addition, the TPS7A41 is ideal for generating a low voltage supply from intermediate voltage rails in telecom and industrial applications. The device not only provides a well-regulated voltage rail, but also withstands ultra-high and fast voltage transients and maintains regulation under these transient conditions. These features translate into simpler and more cost-effective surge protection circuits that can be used in a wide range of applications.
