The A1230 is a dualChannel bipolar switch, the switch comes with twoHall-effect sensingElements, each with independent digital outputs for speed and direction signal processing. Hall elements are optically lithographic and calibrated to over 1 μm. Maintaining a precise mechanical position between two moving Hall elements eliminates major manufacturing difficulties encountered in small distance direction finding applications. The A1230 is a highly sensitive, temperature-stable magnetic sensing device ideal for sensing ring magnet speed and direction systems in harsh automotive and industrial environments.
The A1230 monolithic integrated circuit (IC) contains two independent Hall-effect bipolar switches 1 mm apart. The digital output is out of phase, so when interacting with the appropriate ring magnet design, the output forms quadrature. This enables easy handling of speed and direction signals. Amplifiers with very low drift ensure symmetry between switches to maintain signal quadrature. Allegro's® patented chopper stabilization technology eliminates per-channel offsets for stable operation over the specified operating temperature and voltage range.
In addition, the high-frequency chopper circuit enables higher analog signal noise ratios at the IC's internal digital comparator input. This allows the A1230 to achieve industry-leading digital output jitter performance, which is critical for high-performance motor commutation applications. The on-chip low dropout linear regulator allows the device to be used over a wide operating voltage range. Factory programming after assembly ensures sensitive switchpoints that are symmetrical between the two switches.
The A1230 is available in a plastic 8-pin SOIC surface mount package (L) and a plastic 4-pin SIP (K). Both packages are available over the –40°C to 150°C temperature range. Each package is lead (Pb) free, with 100% matte tin leadframe plating.
