The Allegro™ ACS723 current sensor IC is an affordable, accurate solution for AC or DC current sensing in industrial, commercial, and communications systems. The small package is ideal for applications where space is at a premium, while the smaller board area also saves costs. Typical applications include motor control, load detection and management, switching power supplies, and overcurrent fault protection.
The terminals of the current path are electrically isolated from the sensor pins (pins 5 through 8). This allows the ACS723 current sensor IC to be used in high-side current sensing applications that do not use high-side differential amplifiers or other cost-effective insulation techniques.
The ACS723 is available in a small, low-profile surface-mount SOIC8 package. The leadframe is 100% matte tin plating for compatibility with standard lead-free printed circuit board assembly processes. The device is internally lead-free, with the exception of flip-chip high-temperature leaded solder balls that currently enjoy RoHS exemptions. The device is fully calibrated before shipping from the factory.
