The overall solution requires only three small external components. It adopts a patented high-speed current mode and constant frequency PWM control scheme for excellent stability and transient response. ADP2109 comes with a power-saving mode that reduces switching frequency under light loads, ensuring maximum battery life in portable applications.
The ADP2109 has an input voltage range of 2.3 V to 5.5 V and can be powered from a single lithium-ion or lithium-polymer battery, multiple alkaline or nickel-metal hydride batteries, PCMCIA, USB, and other standard power supplies. A maximum load current of 600 mA is achieved over the input voltage range. ADP2109 can provide fixed output voltages of 1.8 V, 1.2 V, and 1.0 V. All versions include a built-in power switch and synchronous rectifier that requires minimal external components and high efficiency. ADP2109 comes with built-in soft start and internal compensation. When shutdown is performed by logic control, the input and output are disconnected ADP2109 draw less than 1 μA of current from the input supply.
