The LM95214 is an 11-bit digital temperature sensor with a two-wire system management bus (SMBus) interface that can monitor the temperature of the four remote diodes as well as their own temperature very accurately. Four remote diodes can be the ideal target for external devices such as microprocessors, graphics processors, a 2N3904 transistor or diode connected to the 2N3904 series.
The LM95214 reports temperatures in two different formats in the temperature range of 127.875°C/-128°C and the 0°C/255°C range. The LM95214^TCRIT1,^TCRIT2^TCRIT3 output triggers any East Window event channel when it exceeds its corresponding programmable limit and can be used to shut down the interrupt function of the system, steering the system fan, or microcontroller. The ^TCRIT1,^TCRIT2, and ^TCRIT3 pins can be read back from the status register. Shield registers can be used to further control the ^TCRIT output.
Two LM95214 remote temperature channels are programmable digital filters, while the other two remote channels utilize fault queues to minimize unnecessary^ TCRIT activity when temperature spikes are encountered.
For optimal flexibility and accuracy, each LM95214 channel is offset correction register. A three-level address pin allows up to 3 LM95214s to be connected to the same SMBus master. The LM95214 includes power-saving features such as programmable slew rate, shutdown mode, and disabling unused channels.
