The AD5301/AD5311/AD5321 are single 8-, 10-, 12-bit, buffered voltage output DACs that operate from a single 2.5V to 5.5V supply and consume 120μA at 3V. These devices have built-in on-chip outputsamplifier, capable of rail-to-rail output swing with a slew rate of 0.7 V/μs. The two-wire (I2C-compatible) serial interface capable of operating at clock rates up to 400 kHz. Multiple devices can share the same bus.
The reference voltage of this DAC is derived from the power input, so it has the widest dynamic output range. Each device contains a power-on reset circuit that ensures that the DAC output powers up to 0V and remains at that level until a valid write operation is performed. It also features a power-down feature that reduces the device's power consumption to 50nA at 3V in power-down mode and provides a software-selectable output load.
In normal operation, these DACs feature low power consumption, making them ideal for portable battery-powered equipment. Power consumption is 0.75 mW at 5 V and 0.36 mW at 3 V, which is reduced to 1 μW in all power-down modes.
